HE may be only two but little William Hepworth knows what community spirit is.
Accompanied by his grandma and mayor of Pickering, Julie Hepworth, he regularly gets out his litter picker to clear the rubbish on the grass verge in front of his home in Eastgate. Cllr Hepworth, who has been given responsibility for dealing with litter and mess as part of the town council's newly-launched Pride in Pickering campaign, which is backed by the Mercury, said William rises to the task.

She said: "You are never too young to start learning about litter. If we all stop dropping litter then we would have a much cleaner environment to live in and visit."
