MECCANO-mad Ken Hopper proved to be a big draw to children of all ages at the Vintage Machinery Section.
The 69-year-old, who lives in Rillington, displayed a number of intricate – and working – models made using the famed construction kit, including a carousel, replica Eiffel Tower and Spitfire fighter planes, among others.
His interest was sparked thanks to a Christmas present in 1945 and it has “just escalated” from there.
Ken said: “I’m just mad about Meccano. I just go into a spare room at home to make it and If I’m bored I would rather do this than watch TV.”
The retired engineer was appearing in his third show and said it helps act as a “memory jogger” for the many people who stop by.
“It’s been brilliant, really,” he added. “There’s been a lot of interest here today but there always is. Kids are interested because they have never seen anything like it before.”
